Bob Sherrard Award

  • Major in political science, social science, social work, or economics,
  • preference given to students who minor in Multicultural and Gender Studies.
  • Minimum overall gpa 2.5
  • Financial need.
  • Must have completed a minimum of 12 units at CSUC and be a senior when the funds are disbursed
  • Selection made on academic achievement, campus and community leadership and potential for contributing to the improvement of economically disadvantaged members of society through political and social change.
The Bob Sherrard Award has been established to honor the pioneering role Bob Sherrard played in establishing Black and Ethnic Studies at California State University, Chico. Through his efforts students from ethnically diverse heritages have come to appreciate their race and culture though the study of politics and society. In order to perpetuate the encouragement given to ethnic minorities at Chico State, the Bob Sherrard Award will be given each year by the Political Science Department to a student who displays academic achievement, college and community leadership, and potential to improve the relationship between ethnic minorities and social change.
