Dr. Barbara Holland’s Peevers was born on September 30, 1930 in Minneapolis, MN. She attended the University of Oregon for a year then accompanied her parents to Paris, where she attended the Sorbonne University of Paris, and earned a Diploma D’Edtudes de Civilization Francaise in 1950. She later went to Stanford University, receiving a Bachelor of Arts, with distinction in social sciences in 1953. Dr. Peevers also received a National Institute for Mental Health fellowship at the University of Nevada, Reno, and received her Ph.D. in psychology in 1970. In 1973, she accepted a faculty appointment to California State University, Chico retiring in 1992 as professor of sociology. Her research was often published, and she served on the University Foundation Board of Governors, the Faculty Senate, the Women’s Faculty Association, the Society for Research in Child Development, the Society of Sigma Xi, Phi Kappa Phi, and the League of Woman Voters.
