Mr. Baker graduated from Chico High School in 1953 and earned his teaching credential from Chico State University, where he was a member of the boxing team and Delta Psi Delta fraternity. The Army veteran went on to work as a school teacher in Durham. For 28 years, Mr. Baker worked for the Commission on Teacher Credentialing as associate governmental program analyst. Most recently, he was working as the commission’s interstate coordinator. Mr. Baker was a president and board member of the Chico State Alumni Association in Sacramento, as well as a member of the Chico-Leland Stanford Lodge No. 111. He was also a member of the Sacramento Elks Lodge and the Order of DeMolay, where he received the Chevalier Degree.
