  Jack Henning Jr. and his wife, Frances, owned a ranch in Big Chico Creek Canyon where the University Farm ran beef cattle for some time, and he became very fond of the College of Agriculture and its students. After his death in 2006, two scholarship endowments were established at Chico State. This one in the College of Agriculture that benefits students who work for the Beef Unit or are involved in some aspect of beef cattle production.
