After WWII he attended and graduated from Colorado State University in Agriculture Business. He owned and operated a small cattle and hay business in Grass Valley and Auburn. He was very supportive of the local FFA and 4-H. He believed in giving back to his community. He always felt that higher education was the key to a successful future. Education was the one thing that never could be taken from you. This belief came from being raised during the depression and experiencing the loss of the family farming operation. The intent of this award would be to help a young person achieve the goal of higher education with the future promise of giving back to the community in the future.
