Past California State Senator and current U.S. Congressman Mike Thompson holds two degrees from CSU, Chico – the bachelor of public administration and the MPA. Mike was elected to the state senate in a district that included Chico, and is currently a U.S. Congressman for the First California District, which covers Napa and the north coastal counties, predominantly. In 1997 this scholarship for CSUC students planning on careers in public service was established by the then California State Senator Thompson.
