She grew up in the Paradise and Chico area. Mrs. Reynolds, a 1943 Music Department graduate with a degree in elementary education and a special secondary credential in music, taught music in Woodland elementary schools during World War II. She has enjoyed a lifelong love of classical music both in the community and with her extended family that includes two late husbands; Dr. Hal Reynolds and Dr. Bob Metcalf, four children, three step children and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A pianist and vocal performer, she has been active in choral and music organizations in Riverside and Paradise, and has also donated a rich collection of piano and clarinet music to the Chico State Music Library to benefit music students. She creates this scholarship to recognize an upper division or credential/graduate student with a passion for classical music, especially those who enjoy woodwind performance.
