George Longazo Double Reed Scholarship

• Major: Any within the Music, Theatre, and Dance Department
  *Must play a reed instrument. First preference is for students who play the bassoon or oboe.
• minimum overall gpa 2.5
  *First Time, Continuing, Transfer Students
• First year, sophomore, junior, Seniors, Graduates, Credentials
• Department of Music and Theatre requires an audition or interview. (Contact department for audition/interview)- Scholarship can be awarded without audition, but preference will be given to students who audition.

STATEMENT BY GEORGE LONGAZO:
Since September 1969 I have enjoyed the pleasure and privilege of working with music students in over twenty different courses at California State University, Chico. During this time, I have been the recipient of two Meritorious Performance Awards (1986 and 1989). Now that I am retiring, I wish to return the award money to the University in the form of a scholarship for double reed performers. It is my hope that the scholarship will both recognize and encourage achievement as do the Meritorious Performance awards. My primary instrument is the bassoon. However, as a teacher of both bassoon and oboe, I wish to dedicate this scholarship to students of both of these instruments. I trust they will continue the tradition of helping music students in the future.
