Josh Read Memorial Scholarship

• Preference for students who play multiple instruments.
• Music audition/interview required by the Music and Theatre Department.

Josh Read was born on June 25, 1973 in Carmichael, CA to Kenneth and Millie Read. He grew up in Lincoln, CA. He was a talented musician, playing numerous instruments. He graduated from Chico State with a bachelor’s degree in music and while in attendance, played with the Chico Symphony Orchestra as well as many local bands. Josh loved people and being an entertainer. He enjoyed his job as General Manager of Woodstock’s and made many valuable friends through work. He also enjoyed camping, golfing, wakeboarding, running and composing music. Josh passed away at his home in Chico, CA on October 14, 2006.
