H.Reed Applegate Foundation Printmaking Scholarship

BA/BFA Studio Art- Printmaking Concentration
Continuing Students
Sophomores, Juniors, Seniors
Recipients must demonstrate a consistent dedication to creating art, a strong desire for expression through painting, and a commitment to maintaining a lifelong interest in art.
Though financial need is not an initial qualification for the scholarship if there are equally eligible applicants, the student(s) with the greater financial need should be selected.

Reed Applegate, ’67 BA Art, enjoyed a career in graphic design and advertising, and has been a long-term research volunteer for the Janet Turner Print Museum. He was a passionate art collector, focusing on northern California artists, and frequently loans pieces for exhibitions at The Turner and many other local museums. He was a recipient of the Turner Prize for Excellence in the Arts and the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. Reed was a generous supporter of local arts organizations including the Chico Art Center, and the 1078 Gallery. Reed was a fixture on the Chico State campus, as his dedication to scholarly research on behalf of The Turner collection brought him to the library and gallery several times a week. Reed has dedicated his estate to the support of the arts, and this Fund was created to provide ongoing scholarship support to students majoring in studio art with an emphasis in printmaking.
