Michael Dixon Memorial Scholarship

Major: Mathematics; recipient must have demonstrated outstanding ability in pure mathematics.

The family and friends of Professor Dixon hope that this scholarship will provide encouragement and recognition to gifted students in mathematics. The Michael Dixon Memorial Scholarship was established to honor the memory of Dr. Michael J. Dixon, an active member of the Department of Mathematics and Statistics from 1967 to 1990. Professor Dixon served as Department Chair from 1979 to 1981, was founder of the CSU Mathematics Colloquium Series, was founder and director of the Chico Problem Group, was a collaborating editor of the Problem Section of the American Mathematical Monthly, and had personally submitted more than 150 problems and solutions to mathematics journals.
