Matthew L. Cecchi Memorial Scholarship

• Major: Liberal Studies teaching pattern or Credential Program.

• Must be pursuing a career in elementary education.

• Minimum overall gpa 3.0

• Financial need.

This scholarship was established in memory of a gifted, loving young boy, Matthew, who was the victim of a random, violent act by a complete stranger. His life and memory are cherished and he is deeply missed by all his family and friends. The purpose of this scholarship is to honor the memory of a fine, bright and dearly loved child by providing encouragement and support for students in pursuit of their dreams. Matthew’s mother was a student at Chico State when he was killed. Matt was extremely supportive of his mother’s education and her dream to become a teacher. By giving the gift of scholarship to a student in need, the memory of Matthew L. Cecchi will live eternally and he will be remembered always.
