The family of Mary Alice Trechter established this scholarship to honor her memory, and continue her legacy, by providing support to future teachers at Chico State.
Mary Alice Trechter was born May 2, 1922 in Colorado to Dyer and Gertrude Elkins. She moved to Northern California from Colorado after her husband passed away in the early 1970’s. She had a long and distinguished career working in the Thermalito-Oroville-Palermo Education Center with elementary teacher candidates, and supervising student teachers in the School of Education at Chico State.
