Gary and Lorrene Watters Scholarship

• Civil Engineering major
• Minimum overall gpa 3.3
• Continuing junior or senior (preference for student with one full academic year remaining)
• Must have completed 1) Strength of Materials and 2) Fluid Mechanics at time of award selection.
• Must demonstrate enthusiasm for learning as determined by department faculty.

Requires the CSUC general scholarship application and Civil Engineering supplemental.

The Watters established this scholarship to provide support and encouragement to students who are committed to high academic achievement in their pursuit of a degree in Civil Engineering. Dr. Gary Z. Watters graduated from Chico State in 1957 with a BS in Civil Engineering, and received his Master’s degree and Ph.D. from Stanford. He was the dean of the College of Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering from 1980-1982. He retired as a professor of engineering in 1998. Lorrene D. Watters obtained a Certificate in Business from Chico State in 1956, and worked as an administrative operations analyst for the vice president of student affairs until 2000.
