Paul DiGirolamo was born in San Francisco and raised in Petaluma, CA. He was very active in school, participating in band and jazz band. He loved sports, lettering in swimming, track and cross country. He was the first student from Petaluma High School to go to state finals in both track and cross country.
After entering Chico State University, Paul’s interest shifted to politics and International Relations. He participated in and worked with several local organizations such as Easter Seals and Student Legal Services. He participated in mock United Nations in New York for two consecutive years, the second year as group treasurer.
While Vice-president of Chico State’s Associated Student Government , Paul became concerned about a growing separation between the local Chico community and the student population. In an effort to create a common sense of community, Paul initiated the first “Celebration of Peoples” Parade in 1995 as a coordinated effort between the University, Associated Students and the city of Chico.
All of these accomplishments were possible because of Paul’s openness, sincerity and ability to embrace every person he met as a friend.
